Tapex is an Australian owned and operated company that supplies an array of products to the construction and mining industries. Specifically, they produce products like underground warning tapes and meshes, pipe protection lashings and twine, safety tape, and their well known, featured product gutter guards / gutter guard mesh - just to name a few!
History of Tapex
Tapex is a family owned business that traces back to the 1880’s. The owner and managing director is Philip Rossi and his great grandparents emigrated from Italy and started a business providing clothes and other goods to rural Australians. Over the following 70 years, two generations of Rossi’s grew the business steadily and in 1957 the official Tapex Company that you know today was formed.
Over the generations, innovation and investing in their people have remained Tapex’s core values: providing world-class products and suburb service. For instance, in 1962 Tapex became the first company in the southern hemisphere to extrude polypropylene - this process is melting raw plastics into one smooth material. In 1980, they developed the first underground detectable warning tape to protect telecommunication cables. In 2005 they developed the world’s first waterless hockey pitch in Victoria, which was later used for the 2012 London Olympic games.
Corporate responsibility is important for Tapex. In 2009, Tapex launched its Plasback Recycling Strategy - a stewardship programme that aims to recover farm plastics across Australia and New Zealand. From this initiative, Tapex has introduced new products made from recycled plastics.
Their subsidiary Agpac Ltd produced the world’s first pink coloured silage packaging to raise awareness of breast cancer, with a significant donation each year going to Sweet Louise, a charity supporting woman and their families living with secondary breast cancer. In addition, last year, Agpac developed blue silage film to help raise awareness and money for prostate cancer. Tapex is also a proud supporter and contributor to the “So They Can” charity organisations. So They Can works with Kenyan and Tanzanian communities to educate and empower their people to break the poverty cycle, realise their own potential and meet their own needs.
Being Australian made, family owned and strong values in innovation, the development of their people and providing community support, is why Aussie Gutter Protection is proud to install Tapex gutter guard products. Their gutter guards range from aluminium, polyethylene to stainless steel, with warranty ranging from 10 to 15 years. With an array of colours to choose from, Tapex products are designed to stop debris from entering gutters but lets water drain freely. The gutter guard strength also stops damage that can be caused by birds, possums and vermin. Find out more information about Tapex gutter guards.
